ChurchGuide.io is a small, independent project. We have no interest in harvesting your data, and we want you to understand exactly what we collect and why. This page explains it plainly.
What we collect
Email address
If you sign in, we store your email via Supabase Auth. You can sign in with a magic link (email OTP) or Google OAuth. We use your email only to identify your account and send you notifications you've opted into (like "your church suggestion was added").
Saved churches and visited history
If you have an account, we store which churches you've saved or marked as visited. This data is tied to your account and is only used to power those features.
Church suggestion submissions
When you suggest a church, we store the website URL and your email address (optional). We use this to process the submission and notify you if it goes live.
Correction requests
When you submit a correction for a church profile, we store the church name, the field you're correcting, your suggested value, and your email (optional). This is used solely to process the correction.
Anonymous analytics
We collect basic, anonymous usage data — page views and session identifiers — to understand how the site is being used. This data is not tied to your identity and is never sold.
How we use it
- →To run your account and remember your saved/visited churches
- →To process church suggestions and corrections
- →To notify you by email when a submission you made goes live (only if you provided an email)
- →To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the product
What we don't do
- ✓We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
- ✓We do not run ads — ever
- ✓We do not send marketing emails or newsletters (we have none)
- ✓We do not require an account to browse the directory
- ✓We do not track you across other websites
Church profile data
Church profiles on ChurchGuide.io are compiled from publicly available sources: church websites, statements of faith, and the Google Places API. This is not personal data — it is organizational information churches have made public.
If you are a church representative and believe something on your profile is inaccurate or should be removed, please use the correction tool on the church page or email us at hello@churchguide.io.
Cookies & analytics
We use cookies for authentication (to keep you signed in) and for anonymous session tracking. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Our analytics are minimal and privacy-focused. We track page views and aggregate usage patterns. No fingerprinting, no behavioral ad profiles, no cross-site tracking.
Your rights
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your email address, saved churches, and visited history from our database.
If you want a copy of the data we have on you, or want to request deletion of specific data without closing your account, email us at hello@churchguide.io and we will take care of it promptly.
